Apple Turnovers

This is a delicious, crunchy, sweet dessert for anyone to enjoy.

Ingredients: 

  • 4 apples (peeled and diced)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (to taste)
  • 1 tsp cornflour
  • 30 g butter
  • a pinch of salt.
  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • A beaten egg (to glaze)

Method:

1) Put the diced apples, water, sugar, butter, cinnamon, lemon juice, salt in a saucepan on medium heat. After the mixture is simmering, turn down the heat, cover and let it cook for about 10 minutes.

2) Add the corn flour and stir for about 1 minute and take it off the heat and leave it aside to cool. Preheat the oven to 180°C or 350°F.

3) Cut pastry into squares and spoon some of the mixture into the middle of a square. Top with another square of the pastry. Using a fork, crimp the edges together.

4) Brush top of the pastry with beaten egg. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes or until pastry is golden brown.
